Screening Plagiarism

To maintain the integrity and originality of published works, Journal of Islamic Entrepreneurship and Business Research (JIEBR) applies a strict plagiarism screening policy.

1. Plagiarism Detection Process

  • All submitted manuscripts will be checked using plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin or iThenticate.
  • The maximum similarity index allowed is 20%, excluding references and properly cited quotations.
  • If the similarity index exceeds 20%, the manuscript will be sent back to the author for revision or rejected outright.

2. Types of Plagiarism Considered Unacceptable

The following forms of plagiarism will be considered as serious violations of publication ethics:

  1. Direct Plagiarism – Copying another author’s work word for word without citation.
  2. Self-Plagiarism – Reusing significant portions of one's own previously published work without proper citation or acknowledgment.
  3. Mosaic Plagiarism – Mixing copied phrases from various sources without proper citation.
  4. Paraphrasing Plagiarism – Rewriting someone else's work without changing the original meaning and without proper citation.
  5. Fabrication or Falsification – Manipulating data, results, or sources to mislead readers.

3. Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected at any stage of the publication process, the following actions will be taken:

  • Before publication: The manuscript will be immediately rejected or returned to the author for revision.
  • After publication:
    • The article will be retracted and marked as plagiarized work.
    • The author(s) may be blacklisted from submitting to JIEBR in the future.
    • The author’s affiliated institution may be notified.

4. Author Responsibility

  • Authors must properly cite all sources and ensure that their work is original.
  • Authors should use reference management tools like Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote to maintain proper citations.
  • Authors are encouraged to check their manuscripts for unintentional plagiarism before submission using plagiarism detection software.

By submitting a manuscript to JIEBR, authors agree to comply with this plagiarism screening policy.
