Publication Ethics

Multidisciplinary Journal of Contemporary Islamic Discourse (MJCID) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and preventing all forms of academic misconduct. The journal adheres to the ethical principles and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, the Editor-in-Chief, editorial board members, peer reviewers, and the publisher.

1. Duties of Authors

  • Authors must ensure that their submitted manuscripts are original works, free from plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and improper citation practices. Submissions must not have been previously published nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • Authors are responsible for presenting accurate, honest, and transparent accounts of their research methods, data, analysis, and findings. Sufficient detail should be provided to enable replication or verification by other scholars.
  • All individuals who have made significant scholarly contributions to the research must be appropriately listed as co-authors. Individuals who contributed in limited ways should be acknowledged properly.
  • Authors must properly cite and acknowledge all sources of data, ideas, and scholarly works that have influenced their research.
  • Any financial support, institutional affiliation, or potential conflict of interest that could influence the interpretation of the research must be clearly disclosed.
  • If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they are obligated to promptly notify the Editor-in-Chief and cooperate fully in issuing corrections, clarifications, or retractions when necessary.
  • Research involving human participants, sensitive data, or ethical risk must comply with applicable institutional and international ethical standards.

2. Duties of the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board

  • The Editor-in-Chief and editorial board are responsible for making publication decisions based on the manuscript’s scholarly merit, originality, clarity, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope.
  • Editors must ensure a fair, impartial, and double-blind peer review process without discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, citizenship, or political orientation of the authors.
  • Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and protect the anonymity of reviewers throughout the review process.
  • Unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts must not be used by editors for their own research without the explicit written consent of the authors.
  • Editors must take appropriate and timely action when ethical concerns are raised regarding submitted or published manuscripts, including investigating allegations of misconduct, issuing corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions when warranted.

3. Duties of Reviewers

  • Reviewers must provide objective, constructive, and scholarly evaluations to assist editors in making informed editorial decisions.
  • Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and must not disclose or use any part of the manuscript for personal or professional advantage.
  • Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and alert the editor to any substantial similarity or overlap with other known works.
  • Reviewers must declare any potential conflicts of interest and decline to review manuscripts where such conflicts exist.
  • Reviews should be completed within the agreed timeframe, and reviewers should promptly inform the editor if they are unable to complete the review.

4. Duties of the Publisher

  • The publisher supports the editorial team in safeguarding the integrity of the academic record and ensuring that ethical publishing standards are consistently upheld.
  • The publisher works collaboratively with the editorial board to investigate and resolve allegations of research misconduct, plagiarism, or ethical violations.
  • The publisher ensures that editorial independence is maintained and that commercial considerations do not influence editorial decisions.

Multidisciplinary Journal of Contemporary Islamic Discourse (MJCID) is dedicated to ethical publishing practices and expects all stakeholders to adhere strictly to these principles in order to promote integrity, transparency, and scholarly excellence in contemporary Islamic studies.
