Screening for Plagiarism

Yaalmada: Journal of Research and Islamic Studies upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism. To ensure the originality of submitted manuscripts, the journal applies the following plagiarism screening policy:

  1. Plagiarism Detection
    All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial plagiarism screening using reliable plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin or iThenticate. This step is conducted prior to the peer review process.

  2. Similarity Threshold
    The acceptable similarity index is no more than 20%, excluding references, quotations, and methodological terms. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be returned to the author for revision or rejected outright depending on the severity.

  3. Types of Plagiarism
    The journal considers the following acts as plagiarism:

    • Direct plagiarism: Copying text word-for-word without proper attribution.

    • Self-plagiarism: Reusing one’s own previously published work without acknowledgment.

    • Mosaic plagiarism: Borrowing phrases from a source without quotation marks or citation.

    • Improper paraphrasing: Rewording ideas from another source without credit.

  4. Action on Detected Plagiarism
    If plagiarism is detected at any stage:

    • Before publication: The manuscript will be rejected or returned for revision.

    • After publication: The article may be retracted, and appropriate notice will be issued on the journal’s website.

  5. Author Responsibility
    Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their work and must properly cite all sources used. By submitting to Yaalmada, authors agree to these conditions and confirm that their work is free from plagiarism.

  6. Editorial Discretion
    The editorial team reserves the right to request raw data or supporting documents if needed to verify originality and authenticity.
